🚨 Major Update for Schools in England: Benedict’s Law 🚨

In February 2026, the Government formally passed Benedict’s Law, committing to introduce mandatory statutory allergy guidance for schools in England via the Department for Education.

Coming into force in September 2026, the guidance represents a major advancement in allergy management and emergency preparedness across education settings.

For the first time, schools will be required to:

• Stock spare adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs)
• Provide mandatory allergy awareness training for all staff
• Appoint an Allergy Lead and nominated Governor
• Record and review allergic incidents
• Maintain comprehensive allergy and anaphylaxis policies, including Individual Healthcare Plans (IHPs)

Schools are encouraged to begin reviewing their current practices now, from dining hall safety and school trip procedures to staff training and incident reporting.
